Each year the event emphasizes on specific issues of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Now in its 11th year, the Taiwan LGBT Pride has grown from a humble gathering of 500 participants in 2003 to become the largest annual LGBT parade in Asia. Organizers estimated that there will be more than 50,000 participants this year. The parade will proceed on October 26 afternoon from Ketagalan Boulevard.

Taiwan Tongzhi Hotline Association (TTHA or Hotline) was funded in 1998 and later in 2000, has become the first official registered national LGBT NGO in Taiwan.
