Celebrate Sinatra's Centennial in His Favorite Oasis

Visit Greater Palm Springs

December 12 marks Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday and plans to celebrate this landmark event are in full swing throughout Greater Palm Springs. The legendary crooner made his second home here for nearly 50 years, first in the midcentury modern Twin Palms estate where he'd famously raise a Jack Daniels flag to signal the start of cocktail hour for neighbors the likes of fellow crooner Bing Crosby and baseball great Joe DiMaggio. This fall and winter, Greater Palm Springs resorts, restaurants and attractions are paying tribute to the “Chairman of the Board” with a sensational slate of activities, doing it 'his way' with signature cocktails and dishes, Rat Pack-inspired parties, custom hotel packages, bar crawls, and a whole lot more.

Take a look at some of the fabulous festivities in store:

The Riviera Palm Springs was a hot spot for Sinatra and his fellow Rat Packers, and Sinatra hosted several charity events there. The “Riv” is paying it back big time with a fall Sinatra Event series that kicks off Sept. 26 and culminates in a birthday extravaganza weekend Dec. 11-13 with Saturday night headliners James Darren and Trini Lopez. www.psriviera.com and www.weekendatsinatras.com

Embark on Celebrity Tours' “Sinatra on Saturday” three-hour tour (resuming Nov. 1), which takes you to several places frequented or owned by Sinatra. You'll view more than 50 homes during this driving tour, including those of Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Bob Hope, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and many more. Private, customized tours are also available. www.palmspringsalive.com.

Johnny Costa once served as personal chef to Ol' Blue Eyes so it's no surprise that his namesake restaurant, Johnny Costa's in Palm Springs, features two of Sinatra's favorite dishes: Clams Linguini and Steak Sinatra. Of course, no authentic Sinatra dining experience would be complete without a “Chairman of the Board” Jack Daniels Special Edition on the Rocks. www.johnnycostaspalmsprings.com.

Another legendary Hollywood haunt, Colony Palms, is planning to salute Mr. Sinatra throughout the month of December with a special Frank Sinatra cocktail and “Old Hollywood” pre-fixe menu. In addition, the chic boutique resort will feature a Sinatra-era jazz band on Saturday, December 12. The special “Sleep with Frank at CPH” room package at $169 per night (Sun-Thurs) includes a welcome martini for two, $25 food and beverage credit and a surprise takeway. www.colonypalmshotel.com

Spencer's Palm Springs, a dining landmark, tips its hat to Sinatra with live piano music during lunch and dinner on December 12. All Sinatra, all day! www.spencersrestaurant.com
