Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival With Traditional Mooncakes from Langham Hospitality Group's Hotels in Hong Kong

The Langham, Hong Kong

Two Michelin-Starred T'ang Court's Master Chef Kwong Creates Special Healthy Recipe for Mooncakes That Promises the Same Quality Taste With Less Sugar. Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival falls this year on 8 September.  The three Hong Kong hotels of Langham Hospitality Group – The Langham, Langham Place and Eaton – have unveiled its selection of highly anticipated mooncakes.

This year, Master Chef Kwong Wai Keung of the two Michelin-starred T'ang Court restaurant in The Langham, Hong Kong heads the culinary team that created this year's mooncakes line-up.  Chef Kwong shares, “The Mid-Autumn Festival is about family reunions and I want to re-ignite childhood memories through traditional mooncakes and to re-create the same genuine taste we loved and cherished when we were young.”

Chef Kwong will be focusing on traditional mooncakes - the white lotus seeds and The Langham's highly popular custard mooncakes - this year.  The white lotus seed with double egg yolk comes in the regular size and the delicate white lotus seed with egg yolk and custard with egg yolk are in the popular and tasty bite-sizes.

The finest ingredients are used to create these traditional delicacies to ensure that the texture and taste of the mooncakes are of the highest standards.  Chef Kwong also highlighted that his mooncake recipe uses comparatively lesser sugar, about 20 per cent lower than usual recipes, resulting in healthier mooncakes, without compromising on taste.

With more than 220,000 mooncakes sold last year (a ten per cent increase from 2012) from the Group's three Hong Kong hotels, The Langham's signature mooncakes have consistently received tremendous support from both new and loyal customers every year.

“We are delighted that our mooncakes continue to be highly regarded by our guests year after year,” says Simon Manning, vice president of sales and marketing. “Our chefs have worked hard in creating the finest mooncakes using only the highest quality ingredients to ensure our guests have only the best.”  Mr. Manning also adds that aside from the exquisite mooncakes, “we are also dedicated in creating elegant, beautiful crafted boxes to not only preserve the sweet and savoury delicacies, but to ensure that they make ideal gifts for your friends, relatives and corporate clients.”

Currently available for sale till 7 September 2014, the Langham mooncakes are presented in three different variations.
