Celebrate High Season at Tanjong Jara Resort as Turtle Watching and Dive Season Converge

YTL Hotels

Dive season and turtle watching season have simultaneously arrived at Tanjong Jara Resort with a host of activities and packages to ensure guests take advantage of the luxury resort's exclusive position fronting the golden beach and pristine waters of the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

As these seasons converge to create exciting adventures, Australian travellers can book the special Luxury Breaks package from now until 30 September for an immersive experience into culture, nature and atmosphere of YTL Hotels'  “Unmistakably Malay” Tanjong Jara Resort. The Luxury Breaks package is inclusive of accommodation for two adults, daily breakfasts and daily three-course dinners at Di Atas Sungei. Packages start from AUD$265 (MYR680++) per double occupancy room per night for a minimum of two nights' stay.

Turtle Watching Season
Up until the end of September, females of the endangered green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) come ashore to lay their eggs. A short distance from the resort lays a protected beach, closely watched by officials for any presence of these majestic sea creatures returning to the exact same beach from where they hatched as babies, to lay their eggs in the sand. These eggs are later transported to the nearby hatchery, a vital step in the education of the public about potential predators, either humans or animals that may prey on the eggs should this not be carried out. Tanjong Jara Resort's Turtle Watching activity highlights the precious natural heritage by bringing guests to the site to witness the mother as she lays her eggs in the sand before returning to the vast ocean.  Later in the season, the babies emerge from their eggs in the hatchery and lucky guests have the opportunity to release the younglings, starting their arduous yet inspiring journey of life. The Tenggol Island Expedition is the perfect complementary activity to glimpse the green sea turtles in their natural habitat.

Dive Season
Considered by insiders as the region's best-kept diving secret, the pristine island provides access to more than 20 of the finest diving and snorkelling sites in the world and is ideal for everyone from avid snorkellers and advanced divers keen to explore the flourishing marine paradise. While dive season lasts from March to October annually, the first few and last few months offer the chance to catch a glimpse both the green sea turtles and the world's biggest extant fish species – the whale shark, as well as barracudas, black-tipped reef sharks, everyone's favourite “Nemo” – the common clownfish and vibrant coral formations. Snorkelling and diving daytrips to Tenggol Island are offered to guests of Tanjong Jara Resort, as well as a variety of PADI courses guided by experienced instructors.
