About Petaluma Winery
Petaluma was founded in 1976 with the sole objective to produce ultra-premium wines by carefully selecting the best sites within a particular Australian region suited to a chosen variety, thus creating the concept of Petaluma's 'Distinguished Vineyards'.
This approach defied established industry views in the 1970s when mainstream Australian viticulture practices focused on exploiting Australia's sunny climate and broad scale viticulture. Instead, Petaluma's vision focused on the importance of quality viticultural sites in Australia. This approach was a revolution in thinking which would push Petaluma ahead of other Australian wineries of the time and would become the foundation for the creation of truly great wines.
Petaluma's pioneering spirit has seen vineyards sites in untested regions such as the Adelaide Hills considered, selected and planted. The Adelaide Hills is now home to some of Australia's pre-eminent wineries - testiment to Petaluma's early vision, willingness to focus properly on the 'Distinguished Vineyards' philosophy and long term commitment to the key three regions that are the foundation of Petaluma's heritage and breeding as one of Australia's leading wineries.
Petaluma is built upon the belief of planting the right varieties for individual vineyards in regions where the varietals excel. The yellow label has garnered significant acclaim for riesling from the Clare Valley, sparkling from the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills, shiraz from Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills and cabernet from Coonawarra.

About Marchesi di Barolo Wines
Marchesi di Barolo controls approximately 120 hectares of vineyards and produces wines from the major indigenous varieties of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato in Italy. In order to better define and enhance their different characteristics, the most prestigious historical crus are made from a single variety and individually aged and bottled.
Marchesi di Barolo historical cellars are located in a building overlooking the Castle of the Marquis Falletti in the town of Barolo, in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 50 kilometres southeast of Turin, Italy.
The winery's story began in 1807 in Paris, when the Marquis of Barolo Carlo Tancredi Falletti married Juliette Colbert de Maulévrier, a French noblewoman and the great granddaughter of the Sun King's well-known Minister of Finance. Juliette saw the great potential of the wine made in Barolo which, after a complete fermentation and a long aging in wood, would unveil all the qualities typical of the soil and of the grape variety: Nebbiolo. In 1864, Juliette's death marked the end of the prestigious Falletti dynasty. In order to perpetuate the Marquise's memory and charitable work, the Opera Pia Barolo was founded and established in the beautiful Palazzo Barolo in Turin.
Marchesa di Barolo is currently run by Anna and Ernesto Abbona, who are the 5th generation of the founding family. Their original and distinguished wines are characterized by a number of highly prestigious native vines and a unique soil composition, with amalgams of clay, limestone marl, bluish marl, tuff, sandstone and sand.
Valentina Abbona, who represents Marchesi di Barolo's 6th generation, will personally introduce her family's wines at the June 28th dinner at THE STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill.
