BRITISH wine lovers are in for a treat this summer with the launch of an exclusive English Wine Package at one of the south-west's top foodie hotels.
Throughout the summer months, The Magdalen Chapter in Exeter will be offering an English Wine Package that includes two nights accommodation at the hotel plus a tour of some of the best vineyards in Devon with accompanied wine tastings.
The Magdalen Chapter is running the package in conjunction with South Devon Wine Tours. Guests will be picked up from the hotel and taken to three different vineyards including Pebblebed in Clyst St George, Old Walls Vineyard in Teignmouth and Lily Farm near Budleigh Salterton.
General Manager Fiona Moores, from The Magdalen Chapter, said: “We have so much to be proud of in the UK with our English wines. We want to celebrate some of the fabulous vineyards in our area and showcase the stories and tales of the people behind the bottles. By launching these tours, we hope to give our guests a really enjoyable insight into the Devon wine producing scene.”
Pebblebed Vineyards, in Clyst St George, were famously featured on Dragons' Den when founder Geoff Bowen successfully secured the backing form Duncan Bannatyne. The vineyard now produces an array of sparkling, white and rose wines and has developed a very strong following among wine lovers.
The English Wine Package will launch on Sunday May 25 to coincide with the start of English Wine Week. Prices from £449 and include two nights B&B, £40 to spend on dinner on one evening at The Magdalen Chapter plus a full day's vineyard experience with South Devon Wine Tours.
