Prepares to launch direct Hong Kong – Iloilo service

(Hong Kong, August 29, 2012) - The Philippines’ largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB) has recently taken delivery of its 39th aircraft, an Airbus A320, acquired brand-new from Toulouse, France.

The newest addition, which will be used to expand its Greater China operations, reinforces CEB’s distinction as having one of the youngest aircraft fleet in Asia. CEB is set to launch twice weekly direct services from Hong Kong to Iloilo on November 8, 2012.

CEB’s fleet is composed of 21 Airbus A320, 10 Airbus A319 and 8 ATR-72-500 aircraft. Between 2012 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 21 more Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft orders. It is planning to begin long-haul services in the 3rd quarter of 2013, with the arrival of 4 Airbus A330 aircraft from 2013 to 2014.

From the mainland, CEB currently operates four-times weekly direct flights between Beijing and Manila, thrice weekly flights from both Xiamen and Guangzhou to Manila, and a daily Shanghai-Manila service.

CEB flies four times daily from Hong Kong to Manila, daily from Hong Kong to both Cebu and Clark, thrice weekly flights to Kalibo (Boracay). It also flies daily from Macau to Manila and four times weekly from Macau to Clark.

The new Hong Kong – Iloilo service further strengthens CEB’s position as the airline with the most flights, routes and destinations between the Philippines and Greater China. Iloilo is located on the south coast of Panay Island and is known for its colorful cultural Dinagyang Festival held every January, and gastronomic indulgencies such as La Paz Batchoy (a hot noodle dish with rich broth).

“Greater China is one of our top source markets, and we are proud to offer our Chinese passengers more brand-new aircraft and the lowest fares to various destinations across the Philippines,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

“CEB also offer the lowest fares to Southeast Asia via the Philippines, including Siem Reap and Hanoi, home of world renowned Angkor Wat and Ha Long Bay, respectively. Passengers from Greater China can also book the lowest fares to Jakarta, Boracay, Coron, Bangkok and more,” she added.

In the first half of 2012, CEB flew more than 6.9 million passengers, a 17% increase compared to the same period last year. It aims to serve 14 million passengers in 2012.

In its 16th year of operations, CEB has flown over 65 million passengers. It offers the lowest fares and the most extensive route network in the Philippines, with 32 Philippine and 19 international destinations on more than 90 routes.
