Cavendish Hotel At Baslow On Chatsworth Estate Celebrates With Luxury Picnic In The Park Package

The Cavendish Hotel

Celebrating Chatsworth's recent Best UK Picnic Spot award, guests at the Cavendish Hotel, Baslow are invited to picnic in the grounds of Chatsworth indulging in delicious goodies and a half bottle of Laurent Perrier Champagne, courtesy of Head Chef Mike Thompson.  The 'Picnic in the Park' package includes dinner in the 2 AA rosette Gallery Restaurant; overnight in a lovely room overlooking the estate; full Derbyshire Country breakfast and, together with a traditional hamper filled with a freshly prepared picnic and Champagne, two tickets to Chatsworth saving £50 per couple.

Chatsworth has won the independently judged Hudson's Heritage Award for the Best UK Picnic Spot 2014 and it's no wonder.  There are so many delightful corners and beautiful designated picnic areas; a place to suit everyone. The Best Picnic Spot award is nominated by a member of the general public which makes it even more special.  An extract from her nomination said, “As we entered the parkland and got our first view of the House and its surrounds....... Wow”.

The three star Cavendish Hotel is located right on the Chatsworth estate and General Manager, Philip Joseph said, “Our guests enjoy walking across the park to Chatsworth and often ask us to make up picnics for them so it was an obvious idea for us to celebrate the award with a half bottle of Champagne and a picnic, all nicely packaged in a traditional hamper that guests can take home afterwards.”

At £399 per couple the 'Picnic in the Park' package offers a saving of £50.

Editors Notes:

The historic property in the pretty bustling village of Baslow was originally the famous Peacock Inn, owned by the Duke of Rutland, although it is uncertain exactly how old it is.  The hotel became part of the Duke of Devonshire's estate around 1830 and in the early 1970s was restored and restyled as the Cavendish Hotel.   The Duchess of Devonshire oversees the design of the interiors.

There are two restaurants - the Gallery Restaurant which has continuously held 2 AA rosettes since 2006, and the light and airy Garden Room open for informal dining and refreshments.  The Kitchen Table provides diners with a thrilling dining experience in the heart of the kitchen – a table for two where diners will enjoy a bespoke menu and can see for themselves what truly takes place whilst soaking up the atmosphere of a busy night's service.

There are 23 bedrooms and one suite – each with its individual theme and design including original art and some antique furniture.

There is also a private room for luncheons, dinner parties and meetings.

The hotel's location is ideal for sight-seeing and exploring. As the closest hotel to the House and Garden at Chatsworth, it is just a 15 minutes' walk across the fields and park.  The Peak District offers wonderful scenery and attractions.

The Cavendish is available for exclusive use and as a venue for special celebrations.

The General Manager is Philip Joseph who has been at the hotel since 2001

The Head Chef since 2011 is Mike Thompson. 2 AA rosettes
