Gangnam-styling in Asia's hit destination

From K-pop concerts, to round-the-clock shopping and ethereal cherry blossoms, Seoul is becoming one of Asia's hottest destinations for cool travellers. Shop-a-holics may already be familiar with Dongdaemun and Myeongdong – lesser known but just as wonderful are the university districts of Hongdae and Ewha with hip and cheap finds, and the tree-lined Garasugil that is full of indie character. Gangnam, made famous by the hit song, has Cheongdamdon and Apgujeong for all your luxury desires. Cathay Pacific has five direct daily flights to Seoul, and Dragonair operates a daily flight to Busan and four flights a week to Jeju. Flights from Sydney to Seoul start from $1,220* and $2590* for premium economy.

Smooth sailing in the air

Cathay Pacific's sister airline Dragonair becomes the first Asian airline with a new automatic reporting system that will help avoid or minimise the impact of turbulence. The system will alert pilots about the aircraft's location and the severity of turbulence, allowing crew to take proactive measures such as flight deviation. Cathay Pacific will be equipped with the same system shortly.

Pan-dorable

The economy cabin of a Cathay Pacific aircraft became an adorable sea of black and white when it was filled with more than a thousand papier-mâché pandas. French artist Paulo Grangeon created the 1,600 pandas – the number of pandas left on the planet – using recycled materials to promote conservation and sustainable development.

Cathay Pacific brought the cute mascots to Hong Kong as part of the 1600 Pandas World Tour, where they visited more than 10 landmarks in Hong Kong, including Hong Kong International Airport and Ocean Park. The pandas had al-ready travelled to France, the Netherlands, Italy,Switzerland, and Germany for some 100 exhibitions. For a cuteness fix, see this video:
