The luxury resort of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the Dominican Republic has announced it is offering PCR Covid testing in a private concierge lounge on-site, ensuring guests do not have to leave the resort.
The move follows an announcement by the Dominican Republic Government that it has extended its free health insurance plan to tourists until March 31, 2021. The plan is offered to those arriving on commercial flights and staying at a local hotel. It is effective from the moment of check-in at the hotel and covers all medical emergencies, including those caused in the event of an infection or exposure to COVID-19 while in the country.
The Government health plan includes treatment and VIP access to Casa De Campo's on-site hospital, the Central Romana Medical Center.
Covid tests can be arranged through the hotel's concierge for $150.00 USD (around £110) per person but the cost will be fully covered by the Government's insurance scheme if the guest has Covid-related symptoms. The test must be booked 48 hours in advance and results are delivered within 1 hour via email.
As a result of the worldwide pandemic, Casa de Campo has also launched its “Casa Cares” programme, adapting the property for Covid-19 including a significant investment in new equipment, updated employee training and an app that allows for an entirely touchless experience.
Casa de Campo offers 7,000 acres of outdoor activities for a socially-distant escape, including world class amenities such as three championship golf courses, shooting centre, hiking, fishing, watersports, an equestrian centre and marina.
Seven nights on all-inclusive basis including return flights from London Gatwick on 21 March currently costs from £1,242 per person. To book visit ba.com/holidays.
