Alfred Taylor Development Appoints Capstone Hotel Management To Operate New-build Blenheim Hotel

New Riverside Hotel Development in Blenheim Named The Alfred Hotel

Wednesday 13 August 2025: Alfred Taylor Development is pleased to announce that it has appointed Capstone Hotel Management as the operators of the new-build 123-room riverside hotel, to be named The Alfred Hotel.

The hotel development site is located adjacent to the former Clubs of Marlborough building and features 123 rooms over six floors. The hotel will be operating in conjunction with the Marlborough Wine and Food Experience which launches in September, followed by the opening of restaurant Oak and Ivy.

The project, which received planning approval last month, will transform the banks of the city's Taylor River and form part of a modern hospitality and entertainment precinct. The Alfred Hotel will be positioned alongside The Marlborough Wine and Food Experience, ASB Theatre, and the Marlborough Events Centre, creating a premier tourism destination in the heart of Blenheim.

The Alfred Hotel is expected to open in 2027.

This announcement brings Capstone's portfolio to 20 properties under management, following the acquisition two Wilderness Lodges and Wellington's Atura Hotel. This August, Capstone opened The Clements Hotel in Cambridge and will relaunch Queenstown's Nugget Point Hotel as Coronet Ridge Resort in December.
