There are more great places to rest your head during a visit to Canberra. An airport hotel, a property ideal for the business traveller and one for family and leisure travellers has brought 397 new rooms into the Canberra accommodation market.
New
Toga Far East Hotels (TFE) opened the VIBE Hotel Canberra Airport at Canberra Airport in late 2015. A short walk from the terminal and less than 10 minutes from the Canberra city centre, the Guggenheim-inspired hotel with a soaring atrium features 191 rooms and suites over seven storeys and is perfect for the business traveller. With international flights to Canberra via Singapore and Wellington NZ commencing 21 September 2016, the hotel is expected to be in strong demand.
Little National Hotel is a 120-room property adjacent the Realm Hotel precinct in Barton – a short distance from national icons including Australia's Parliament House. Owned by the Doma Group, the property offers amenities of a 5 star hotel with super-king sized bed, wall-to-wall windows and large HD smart televisions. Shared amenities include a hotel library and lounge area. The hotel is ideal for business travellers who can dine at one of the many and varied restaurants nearby in the Realm precinct.
Abode Narrabundah is an 86-room property offering a fully self-contained studio experience with views over the back nine holes of Capital Golf Course. Rooms include laundry facilities, smart TV, Foxtel and Vittoria espresso machines. Abode is owned by Canberra's Geocon company, and one of four properties in the ACT. The hotel is ideal for leisure, corporate, family and group travel.
Refurbished
The Brassey Hotel in Barton has undergone a minor refurbishment since being bought last year by the Doma Group who own nearby Hotel Realm, Burbury Hotel and Little National Hotel. The 1920s hotel is close to Australia's Parliament House and attractions such as the National Gallery of Australia and National Portrait Gallery.

A new central city hotel
A 176-room Mantra Canberra Hotel is being built in the central city garden suburb of Turner on the corner of Canberra's main thoroughfare Northbourne Ave and Macarthur Avenue.
Opening late 2016, the full service hotel will be a mix of 136 hotel rooms and 40 suites over eight levels. The Mantra group currently has 300 rooms across its three Canberra city properties – Peppers, Mantra and Breakfree giving visitors options of luxury, mid range and economy hotel accommodation.
Wine country accommodation
Visitors to the popular Murrumbateman wineries in the Canberra District will benefit from a new hotel to be built by the Geocon Group who own four Abode Hotels in the ACT.
A 52-room Abode Murrumbateman hotel will be built on the Fairley residential development (owned by Shaw Wineries owner Graham Shaw) and it is expected to increase accommodation in the area by 30 per cent. The project has received overwhelming support from nearby wineries including Helm Wines, Yarrh Wines and McKellar Ridge Wines. Construction begins this year.
Clifton Suites rebrands to Pacific Suites, Canberra
Northbourne Avenue's Clifton Suites have been sold and will be rebranded as Pacific Suites, Canberra. The 4.5-star serviced apartment hotel features 153 one and two bedroom apartments, modern conference spaces, a restaurant and sports bar, swimming pool and parking for 256 vehicles. The property will continue to be owner-operated, but will be a member of Choice Hotels' Ascend Hotel Collection – the first one in the ACT.
