Destination Canada and its industry partners; Nova Scotia Tourism, Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership, Toronto Tourism, Manitoba Tourism, Travel Alberta, Destination British Columbia and Westjet launched digital content campaigns in early September in the United Kingdom and driving leads through to Travel Trade Partners: Canadian Affair and Canadian Sky.
These digital first campaigns will run into early 2018 and focus on content themes of Journey, Cities, and Culinary. The themes will be presented through innovative publishing partnerships with National Geographic, The Guardian, The Daily Mail and Great British Chefs, expanding on campaigns started in 2016 and building on key learnings.
Fred Sirieix, star of hit TV series 'First Date' had his very own first date with Canada this summer, discovering cosmopolitan Toronto before heading on a road trip to Muskoka and Algonquin Park. John Quilter, 'Food Busker' returned to Canada and tasted his way around Nova Scotia and cooked up a feast at Peggy's Cove, whilst Micro Adventurer, Alistair Humphries, from National Geographic also explored Nova Scotia and contributed to National Geographic's roster of influencers who travelled coast to coast. The campaigns focus on video-rich storytelling to bring the Canada story to UK consumers in exciting and enticing formats while driving quality leads to trade partners. “Destination Canada continues to build on our digital first strategy with our industry partners which is paying off dividends in driving leads,” said Rupert Peters, MD UK.
Destination Canada continues to expand efforts to drive business forward by also partnering with key trade accounts such as Trailfinders, Flight Centre, SAGA, the autumn period to grow awareness of Canada's year round offerings and promote early booking in 2018. We also continue to try and move the dial on pushing winter Toronto and Montreal City breaks with an autumn campaign with British Airways Holidays.
