It might be landlocked but Out West,  in Alberta , everyone is excited about the May 2014 opening of the new Glacier Skywalk  which will allow all ability access out on a purpose built glass floored walkway  literally floated in mid air.  We say its going to be Flat out Awesome!

Ontario, will  be showcasing a brand new boat operator on the Niagara River. Hornblower Tours will be revealing a  new line up of Niagara Falls  River experiences, from Sunrise and Sunset tours out to the  Falls by boat alongside the more traditional trips.  Be sure to wear a mac as getting wet will be order of the day ! http://www.niagaracruises.com/

Or go talk to the folks at Tourism Nova Scotia about a brand new 'Adventure Canada' cruise  operating in June 2014 to the newly designated  National Park, Sable Island where you'll see wild horses.  A forty one km sand bar, three hundred km  southeast of Halifax, it is known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Now a research and rescue station, the remote and otherworldly island was recently designated a national park by the Government of Canada. A legend for centuries, Sable Island beckons the intrepid  explorer for a closer look at its many mysteries.  Home to a population of feral ponies, descendants from the equine survivors of shipwrecks, the island is also home base for large breeding groups of harbour and grey seals, vast colonies of birds including Arctic Terns and the Ipswich Sparrow. http://www.adventurecanada.com/trip/sable-island-2-2014/

For those  holiday makers who like to gloat, first time WTM exhibitor , Hotel Quintessence will join  30  suppliers from across Canada,  to show case luxury in the Laurentian mountains .   Dining out here you can start with  Foie Gras Ice Cream, the lobster bites or oysters of the day. For mains , try the shepherd's pie with wild boar or venison. After dinner, visit  the wine cellar for a night cap or pick from the impressive Scotch collection. In the summer months be sure to book a table on their outdoor deck overlooking the lake.

 NEW ROUTES  TO CANADA

 

Air Canada launches a major European expansion in 2014 . As part of the summer schedule, Air Canada's leisure subsidiary, Air Canada rouge, will launch seasonal non stop flights Toronto - Manchester, supplementing the leisure carriers previously announced route Toronto - Dublin year round service.  It will be expanding the availability of its new Premier Economy cabin with its introduction on Vancouver -London Heathrow flights year round, as well as on Montreal-London Heathrow flights during the peak summer months. Air Canada will also deploy larger aircraft from its international wide body fleet on flights from Calgary to London Heathrow (Boeing 777 June 1 - Sept 30, 2014), Montreal - London (Boeing 777 June 15 - September 30th, 2014) and  on Vancouver to London year round effective March 1st

 

IcelandAir also recently announced increased services to Edmonton, Alberta year round and an earlier launch date of March 5th, 2014. Edmonton will be Icelandair's 13th North American gateway and joins Toronto as the second year round gateway  in Canada.  In addition to  increasing service to Edmonton, Icelandair will offer extra capacity with 17 additional flights across its network including more flights from Glasgow and Gatwick and the launch of Vancouver starting May 13th through to October 12th.  These flights complement already established routes to Toronto and Halifax.
