Camel Valley And The Budock Vean Make A Cornish Gourmet Feast Friday 1 - Sunday 3 November 2013

Budock Vean Hotel

Some movie stars of the wine world will be making an entrance, along with their creators, when Camel Valley takes centre stage in the first of the winter’s gourmet feasts at Cornwall’s Budock Vean Hotel.

Bob and Annie Lindo - who have planted, pruned and tended their vines on their sunny North Cornwall hillside since 1989 – will be introducing guests to their world-famous bottles which most recently featured in Richard Curtis’s new film “About Time”.

The Camel Valley wines (along with Bob and Annie) have also been the focus of Caroline Quentin’s “Cornwall” programmes, have just appeared on ITN  and in national broadsheets regarding this year’s bumper harvest and have starred alongside TV chef Raymond Blanc in his Christmas Special.

The Lindos and their multi-award-winning  products (their sparkling rose won Best in the 2010 World Wine Awards) will find a very relaxed crowd of guests on Friday 1 November at the Budock Vean’s Gourmet Weekend – where they will tell their story as they match their wines to the best fresh local Cornish produce, imaginatively presented by Head Chef Darren Kelly and his team.

“Annie and I rarely do this sort of thing – especially at this time of year when Camel Valley is so busy,” says Bob, “But the Budock Vean is a wonderful place and the food is always outstanding so to go and stay there and be central to a gourmet evening of top-class, locally sourced food – and have a lovely walk in the morning through the gardens down to the Helford River - is much too good an opportunity to pass up!”

The Gourmet Weekend at the country house hotel includes two five-course dinners with different pre-selected wines served with each course, two nights’ accommodation and full English breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

“We feel honoured that Bob and Annie are returning to share their incredible story and amazing wines with us,” says owner Martin Barlow. “The fact is they found their idyllic piece of Cornwall and planted their vines against all advice all those years ago – and now they make world-beating wines from a world-class vineyard which their son Sam is carrying into the future.”

The Budock Vean’s Gourmet weekends have a "House Party" feel to them: guests sit at large tables of eight or ten and this dinner-party style has resulted in many friendships being formed. The fantastic food, wines and company combined with rounds of golf, coastal walks or relaxing in the swimming pool and Natural Health Spa means guests return to them year after year.

Prices for the two night stay: £199 per person in a Standard room and £225 per person in a Superior room.
