Steampunk short break launched to celebrate popular new sci-fi genre

Leicester and Leicestershire is embracing the 'Steampunk' genre with the launch of a new short break aimed at this growing generation of sci-fi enthusiasts.


Steampunk encompasses fashion, culture, art, and architecture, typically featuring steam-powered machinery and inspired by a futuristic view of the industrialised Victorian age. IBM's recent Social Sentiment Index predicted that Steampunk will be the big new trend from 2013 to 2015.


The new Steampunk short break in Leicester and Leicestershire from 29 November to 1 December 2013 includes entry to three Steampunk/Victorian-inspired events, plus two nights B&B accommodation for just £189 for two adults (individual and family packages are also available).
