Gold Country Visitors Association

California's Gold Country, the home of the discovery of gold in California and the start of the Gold Rush, has so much more to offer modern thrill seekers.  New go-at-your-own pace Itineraries help visitors to the region choose the places and activities best suited for their curiosity, without motor coaches or tour guides.

We have developed a special familiarization week for travel journalists who are interested in the area and have suitable outlets, May 18-21, 2014.  Journalists may join for the entire week or meet us at the location of their interest.

The general schedule is:

May 18 - Red Wine, Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubiliee, local wineries

May 19 - Whitewater, Winery visit in Sonora, overnight and River Rafting on the Tuolumne River (Class 4, all river gear provided), overnight stay in Groveland

May 20 - Blue Jeans, visit Yosemite National Park and the Mariposa area, and overnight (optional second night available in the Yosemite area)

Journalists will provide their own transportation and be able to arrange optional touring.  All itinerary activities and all meals and accommodations are included for journalists.
