Specialist in overseas work placements, BUNAC has teamed up with CIEE, the largest US J-1 visa sponsor, to launch Summer Camp Exchange USA 2014. BUNAC has been successfully helping people to work abroad since 1962, and has been running summer camp programmes for over 40 years.
With low upfront costs and wages higher than most other organisations offering similar programmes, Summer Camp Exchange USA gives young adults the opportunity to spend eight to ten weeks between June and September earning money as they live and work with children in the United States. Now is the time to sign up: interviews are taking place around the UK on specific dates until March, with the earliest applicants having the greatest chance of securing a place at a summer camp.
Applications are encouraged from sports coaches, trainee teachers, students and other candidates interested in teaching sports and activities, and working with children during the summer. Positions are open to those aged 19 and over, with experience in teaching one or more of the following activities: rock climbing, lifeguarding, horse riding, tennis, gymnastics, ceramics, archery and water sports. Camps are often located in stunning lakeside settings and vary hugely from those that are privately owned, to others that are run by bodies such as the Scouts, the Salvation Army, or religious organisations. There are also camps that are dedicated to disadvantaged children, as well as others that cater for youngsters with disabilities or special needs. The cost of Summer Camp Exchange USA is £549. This includes placement at camp, a group flight with other participants, transfers, accommodation for the first night in Boston, food and accommodation at camp, medical insurance and a welcome orientation on arrival. Participants receive a minimum salary of $900, which increases with age, specialist skills and qualifications.
Anyone wanting the chance to make the most of the long summer break by earning some money, enhancing their CV, making new friends and having the experience of a lifetime should visit www.bunac.org/uk/workabroad/summercamp for further information or to follow the simple online application process. Alternatively, telephone 020 7870 9570 to speak with a member of the BUNAC team.
In addition to Summer Camp Exchange USA, BUNAC offers a wide range of work abroad programmes in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, volunteer programmes in South Africa, Nepal and the USA, plus internship programmes in China, Thailand, the USA and the UK. Over 250,000 young people have worked, volunteered or interned abroad through BUNAC since 1962.
