Budock Vean celebrating women through their ages: “I Am Woman” spa treatments from Spring 2018

Budock Vean Hotel

Cornwall's most innovative Spa has gone beyond the annual International Women's Day to create bespoke treatments for female-kind from youth to older age.

From adolescent skin to periods, pregnancy to menopause the Natural Health Spa team is tackling the effects from head to toe in the perfect natural environment of the Budock Vean Hotel on the Helford River.

“At certain stages of life our bodies play tricks on us and sometimes we can do with a bit of extra help,” says the Natural Health Spa's pioneering manager Martina Crkonova.
“We're proudly gender neutral, but we also want to ask society to start normalising the typically taboo conversation surrounding periods and menopause.
“Some people prefer not to think about Menopause as an entity - or that hormonal skin conditions can actually cause distress. There are so many internal and external factors that can affect us during our lives and we aim to help women through those stages.”

Research indicates that 800 million women in the world have their period at any one time*, while 13 million UK women are currently going through the menopause: one third of the female population, a fifth of the entire population**.

Martina, a former sports' physio who has also studied Traditional Chinese Medicine, has developed the new treatments using products created by the Natural Spa Factory, also used in her unique “Healing with the Seasons” therapies which have now moved into their Spring cycle.

Alongside these she is introducing the 'Woman Kind' face and body treatment which tackles the hormonal ebbs and surges, discomfort and sensitivities typically experienced during menstruation, including a self-heating wrap for the abdomen and lower back and a skin-loving facial to help balance hormonal skin.

'Pause Me'  is a treatment with an emphasis on wellbeing designed to alleviate symptoms linked to menopause. Hormone balancing essential oils and botanical ingredients are used to soothe, balance and restore calm, while the application of an iced collagen sheet mask cools hot-flushed skin.

Then the 'Pregnancy Body' treatment focuses on easing the strains and stresses imposed on the body, skin and mind during pregnancy. It uses the Natural Spa Factory's “Bumps A Daisy Pregnancy Collection” to sooth dry, stretched skin, ease water retention and promote restful sleep - with uplifting, pregnancy-safe essential oils including neroli, ho wood, rose wood and bitter mandarin.

A Budock Vean “I Am Woman” spa day is £62 including lunch, use of the hotel's luxurious leisure facilities and one of the 60 minute treatments (which are £52 each for the treatment alone). A Spring stay (up until June 7) is from £136 per person per night including dinner, bed and breakfast.

The Budock Vean itself is a cool country house hotel in 65 acres on its own private Helford River foreshore. It offers peaceful luxury in which to relax and unwind in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with great hospitality, amazing food and use of facilities including river kayaking, golf, tennis, boat trips, swimming - and access from the front door to some of the UK's best coastal and country walks.

Martina Crkonova's new “I Am Woman” and “Healing with the Seasons” therapies compliment the Natural Health Spa's enduringly popular ranges by Elemis and Spiezia at the Budock Vean Hotel, near Falmouth, Cornwall, TR11 5LG - 01326 250288 – www.budockvean.co.uk .
