British Skiers Are Flocking to the Ski Slopes of Historic Park City, Utah

Visit Park City

The combination of almost record snowfall and the new Delta Airlines non-stop flight from London Heathrow to Salt Lake City has been the catalyst to a massive increase in British skiers visiting Park City. In the last week alone another 42 inches/ 106 cm of fresh snow has fallen for skiers of all disciplines to enjoy.

The Delta non-stop flight, which operates four days every week during the winter ski season, has helped see visitors from the UK more than double in number since last season. It is expected that this trend will continue, or further increase, next winter as awareness of the flight continues to grow.

The historic former silver mining town of Park City, Utah is home to its namesake ski resort – the biggest in the USA, and Deer Valley – voted the best in the USA. With a short transfer time of just 35 minutes from Salt Lake City airport, and with a passport and customs procedure much quicker than many larger US airports getting to the slopes is easier and quicker than virtually any other ski area.

As the days get longer, the spring skiing season is about to get into full swing. Park City, on a similar latitude to southern Italy, gets plenty of sunshine and base area lodges are dubbed 'beaches' to celebrate the season. At the end of the skiing day, when the 'beach parties' kick in, live music and livelier bars take centre stage with deck chairs arrayed on the snow adding to the beach theme – perfect for soaking up the late afternoon rays.
