Britain's Got Chemmy!

Ski Club of Great Britain

The Ski Club of Great Britain is delighted that Chemmy Alcott, Britain's number one female alpine skier and four time Olympian, has agreed to become an ambassador for the club.

She started skiing as a toddler aged 18 months and began competing seriously at the age of eight. From this committed early start to her career, Chemmy progressed and worked her way up to be ranked 8th in the world.

Chemmy has competed in four consecutive Olympic Games, in Salt Lake City, Turin, Vancouver and most recently in Sochi - in both Turin and Vancouver she finished an impressive 11th place. As well as being ranked in the top 30 in the world for Super G, Giant Slalom and Combined.

“She is an excellent choice as an ambassador for the Ski Club of Great Britain, encouraging younger skiers, snowboarders and existing athletes to pursue their dreams. Her passion and drive in everything she turns her hand too is something that all generations can learn from'” commented Frank McCusker, CEO of the Ski Club of Great Britain.

“Chemmy will be attending numerous events and helping the Ski Club to deliver on their commitments to members. Specifically she will be helping us to attract and enthuse a younger audience into skiing whilst encouraging existing enthusiasts to develop their skiing and boarding ability and take them to the next level of ability.” added Frank.

Frank continues, “Chemmy's enthusiasm for skiing, fitness, the mountains and snowsports in general is something we will harness and share with our members. Through Chemmy's involvement it is hoped we can encourage and support new and inspiring snowsports experiences for everyone.”

Chemmy's next appointment with the Ski Club will be when she joins Frank McCusker to host the pre-season Ski Club Industry party at the Hurlingham Club, London on Wednesday 29th October.

On Saturday, 1st November visitors to the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Show at Earls Court will have the chance to meet Chemmy Alcott on the Ski Club of Great Britain stand. Chemmy will be doing ski fitness challenges and Club members will be able to take #preseason #selfies, get autographs and advice off this retired but not yet resting Olympian.
