Brett Lee Joins Fanatics' Battle with British Cricket Fans on the Sydney Harbour Bridge

On 14th November 2013, Australian Cricket star Brett Lee, led a charge of Fanatics and British cricket supporters to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge for a friendly display of rivalry ahead of the Ashes series.

Adorning face paints of green and gold and the St Georges Cross, the fans chanted, sang and shouted their hearts out in a bid to demonstrate their loyalty to their teams and outdo their opposition. 

This pride of two nations was paraded on the Bridge in the build-up to the Ashes, which comes to Sydney for the final Test on 3rd - 7th January 2014.

World renowned Australian cricketer and Friend of Australia, Brett Lee, said "It's a privilege to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge with such passionate and patriotic fans. The energy and commitment, clearly seen here today, is vital fuel motivating the players to give their all when representing their countries".

Led by Lee, the Fanatics, Australia's best known sports support group, and cricket exchange players from several British teams, completed the ascent to the summit of the Bridge, 134 meters above the glittering Sydney Harbour. The two groups were divided in their allegiance but united in their love of the great game.

Fanatics member Steven Laffey, who took part in the climb, said "the Sydney Harbour Bridge is a great Aussie icon and a very fitting place to invite our friends from the Old Dart today, to show our national pride and the faith we have in our boys".
