7th July 2016 – This Summer, Breckenridge Tourism Office is encouraging active couples to find their perfect adventure together, with a range of pursuits to suit all tastes. Whether on water, land or in air, Breckenridge offers endless options to explore the outdoors, ranging from kayaking, fishing, trail running, and horseback riding, to hot air ballooning.
Breck's hottest summer activities for couples include:
Support Each Other SUPing
Stand up paddleboarding, also known as SUPing, is a popular up-and-coming alpine sport, offering beginners and experts alike the chance to see a completely different side to the picturesque Rockies. In the summer months, SUPers flock to areas like Maggie Pond or nearby Lake Dillon to feed their need for floating freely among the mountains. There are rental locations throughout Breck and local shops also offer SUP river tours. Couples can even put their balance and concentration to the ultimate test with SUP yoga, offered by local studios. For more information, visit: www.gobreck.com/on-the-water/stand-up-paddleboarding.
Take A Romantic Hot Air Balloon Ride
The best way to capture the most expansive views of beautiful Breckenridge and the surrounding Rocky Mountains is from a bird's eye view. Local hot air balloon companies offer couples the adventure of a lifetime – an experience together that they'll never forget! Hot air balloon rides are a unique way to elevate any mountain vacation and are a 'must do' on any holiday bucket list. In Breckenridge, two nearby companies offer such excursions: Colorado Hot Air Balloon Mountain Flights, which take off from the most central point of Colorado in the South Park Valley, and Grand Adventure Balloon Tours, which flies over the heart of the Rockies all year round, with departures from the ridge of the Continental Divide and the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park. Adventure and Après
Breckenridge is known for adventure. But after summitting all those peaks and tackling the whitewater rapids, couples can relish the chance to indulge in a well-deserved, locally-brewed beer or Colorado cocktail. Plentiful happy hours throughout town offer guests the chance to soak up Breckenridge's alpine atmosphere, breathtaking views and local talent or touring musicians in its many cozy bars and taverns. For something extra special, visit the original Breckenridge Brewery, take a tour of the Breck Distillery or enjoy top quality food and wines from vineyards around the world at the first annual Breckenridge Wine Classic festival, taking place from 15 – 18 September 2016. Relax With A Round Of Golf
One of the most relaxing pastimes for couples to enjoy is a round of golf in the sunshine on the world's only 27-hole, Jack Nicklaus-designed, municipal course. The Breckenridge Golf Course is situated in the breathtaking, glacier-sculpted Upper Blue Mountain Valley, at 9,324 feet. Visiting golfers will get an immediate confidence boost, since the ball flies farther and straighter here than at lower elevations, due to a lower air resistance. Since opening in 1985, the Breckenridge Golf Course has received regional and national honours and is ranked as one of the best photographic spots in Breck.
