Fresh Fish From Boat 17 Sep 2013
Brand New Northumberland Cottages With Lobsters & Lobster Crackers

One Off Places

One Off Places is thrilled to announce the launch of Bamburgh Gate, a pair of stone cottages near the Northumberland Heritage coast which have just opened for their first visitors.  The cottages each has its own kitchen garden and access to fresh seafood straight from the owner’s boat.  You can go down to the beach and collect your lobsters from the boat itself if you want the proof!

Would-be chefs are encouraged to try cooking local Northumberland produce from a list of sustainable sources. Fresh Boulmer Bay lobsters & langoustines, Alnmouth Bay salmon, sea trout, cod, mackerel, Northumberland beef and lamb are all readily available. The owners have their own traditional fishing coble based at Alnmouth from which they can offer seasonal catches to their guests.  The kitchen garden is planted with herbs and salad vegetables, plus there is a shared allotment area with root vegetables.

Tabitha Symonds, founder and director of oneoffplaces.co.uk, said of this brand new addition to the portfolio; `Bamburgh Gate has been designed for couples who love great food and want to try fresh local produce but don't always want to eat out.  Here they are supported every step of the way – collecting fresh fish from the boat on the beach, garnishing it from their own kitchen garden, and then eating it in the comfort of a beautiful stone cottage.`

The cottages are open plan studio style with retained architectural features and a log burning stove. A set of Sabatier chefs knives, griddle pan & lobster claw crackers are all provided.

Located in a tranquil rural setting a few miles from the sea they are ideal for exploring Northumberland. Berwick, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Alnwick & Alnmouth are all within 30 minutes drive. Take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to watch seals and visit rare bird colonies, or head inland to the Cheviot Hills and forests.

From £195 for 3 nights / £300 for one week.
