Boston's Restaurant Scene Has Something For Everyone

Meet Boston

Boston, MA (May 19, 2015): One of the biggest decisions a visitor to Boston has it what kind of food they want to eat! From fine dining to late night diners, food trucks to cafes, there's something for everyone. The last year has brought a great new mix of restaurants to Boston, giving first time visitors and seasoned visitors something to look forward to!

Assembly Row, Boston's premiere-brand outlet located just 7 minutes by subway from downtown Boston isn't just for great designer outlet shopping – the dining scene is great there too!  River Bar is one of the hottest new restaurants at Assembly Row. The restaurant has a covered, heated, 123-seat patio with cozy fire pits and offers diners “elevated street food.” On the menu you'll find whole grilled fish cooked with house-preserved lemon, red onion and sautéed greens, fried lobster and rice cake, and leek and cauliflower pot pie, among other delicious items.

Another restaurant located at Assembly Row is the new Tony C's Sports Bar and Grill. The venue is named for Red Sox legend Tony Conigliaro, whose number “25” glows on a ceiling-spanning marquee, surrounded by 90 TV screens, including a “jumbotron” display at the massive four-sided bar. From the baseball-themed dining room to an outdoor patio, sports fans can munch on regionally inspired tavern fare, from New Orleans shrimp with a spicy Creole sauce to Philly cheesesteak wontons.

Head back to town and grab a purple leather seat at Koy, a new eatery at Faneuil Hall. The brightly colored walls adorned with splashy Asian Pop Art appropriately previews the playfulness of the Korean-fusion fare. KFC, as in Korean Fried Chicken, shares menu space with whole fried fish, crab udon, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, glasses of soju sangria and other inventive options that make this restaurant a uniquely distinctive spot in this popular tourist destination.

Wander towards the waterfront and check out Bastille Kitchen, a moderately priced, 240-seat French Bistro at 49 Melcher Street on the waterfront that opened in July, 2014. The restaurant features 11,000 square feet of space built for sharing two-person portions of bouillabaisse, sipping French wines, and holding private parties in the 70-seat private dining area called “Chalet.” With everything from prosciutto-wrapped cod and roast lamb shank and steak frites to beef tongue with mushrooms and beluga lentil & quinoa salad, the cuisine will appeal to both traditionalists and modern palates.

While on the waterfront another restaurant to put on your list is Legal Harborside, Legal Sea Foods' 20,000 square foot flagship property. The restaurant is comprised of three floors and three different concepts under one roof. You'll find a nod to their heritage on the first floor, with a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist. The second floor dining room offers cuisine prepared with sensible creativity for contemporary fine dining. Visit the third floor promenade deck to enjoy a four-season rooftop lounge with a retractable glass roof and walls.

Not a seafood fan? The waterfront is also home to different cuisine options such as Strega, which offers unmatched Italian cuisine and creative cocktails. Dramatic décor, a bustling social scene, and of course celebrity restaurateur Nick Varano's special touches have made Strega Waterfront one of the top dining experiences in Boston.

In addition to Boston's great dining scene, the city has a mobile option – food trucks! The food truck phenomenon has grown substantially over the past few years throughout the city of Boston. From Thai Barbecue to Grilled Cheese to Cupcakes there are numerous delicious choices to choose from. As the weather continues to improve, it is a perfect time to share some of the new trucks visitors and Bostonians will be able to find serving up their tasty bites from around the city.

Rami's Food Truck offers “build-your-own” kosher meals, available on either a pita plate or a plate with protein options such as falafel, tuna, shawarma, or schnitzel. In addition, you will be able to get some of the same cold pressed juice options that are available at the original brick and mortar.

Saigon Alley serves up classic Vietnamese dishes prepared by husband and wife duo Evan Englehart and Ly Tran Hong Ngoc. Expect traditional dishes like Pho, banh mi sandwiches, and bolgogi beef noodles, as well as more experimental offering like the popular Banh Mi(tloaf).

Once relegated to private parties and charitable events, Tasty Burger has finally decided to unleash its dedicated food truck full-time this spring. You can find Tasty's mobile restaurant serving an abbreviated menu of burgers, hot dogs, chili, and tater tots.

Lilo's Plates is a Hawaiian-inspired food truck offering a succinct menu of three main dishes: the sweet Big Island Curry, the Loco Moco (a gravy-smothered Japanese burger patty served over rice with a fried egg), and the Big Island vegetable curry, featuring a rotating assortment of seasonal, locally-sourced vegetables.

Cure your taco craving at North East of the Border, a Mexican-style food truck using locally-sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible. Expect Mexican street tacos, made with carnitas or fish, a selection of torta sandwiches, tamales, and even breakfast options.

How do you choose? Whether you have a favorite style of food you are looking for or are in the need of an option close to the office, the City of Boston offers an online schedule allowing you to view each trucks daily schedule and locations and also a link to their websites: http://www.cityofboston.gov/foodtrucks/schedule-tabs.asp

Can't get enough of the Boston food truck scene? Boston also offers a new late night option with select trucks staying open until midnight.
