Boost For Independent Skiers- Easyjet Launches New Ski Partnership With Iglu

easyJet

Skiers can now package their own tailor-made trips to the slopes through a new website launched today in a joint venture by easyJet, Europe's leading low-cost airline, and Igluski.com, the UK's number one online ski retailer. One click on www.easyJet4ski.com takes the skier to a unique on-line service with access to 54,000 beds in more than 250 resorts within reach of easyJet's budget flights to France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. And, crucial to many independent skiers, accommodation is available from two to seven nights in a choice of self-catering apartments, chalets, hotels and catered chalets in a wide selection of both mainstream and little known resorts. The site also details transfer times from the nearest airport so it is simple to link the most accessible ski resorts to a particular easyJet flight. There is also access to travel insurance, car hire, parking, airport lounges, resort information (including live webcams) and a weekly special offers page. Online booking is possible for 90% of the accommodation and a specialist Iglu team can be contacted by email or telephone. The new partnership means skiers can join the increasing numbers of sun-seeking and city break holidaymakers who use the great deals available online to book independently and so avoid the restrictions of tour operator packages and manic changeover days. Flights have been easy to purchase on any day of the week but independent skiers often struggled to find matching accommodation. Now the launch of www.easyJet4ski.com has solved this problem. With 25% of the accommodation available for short breaks and weekends, www.easyJet4ski.com will revolutionise the ski market and change the way we think of ski holidays, giving skiers the opportunity to travel several times a season instead of the traditional one week a year. Thousands more beds have been secured and will be added throughout the season in currently served resorts and new areas such as Germany and the Czech Republic. easyJet provides more flights to ski destinations than any other scheduled airline and estimates that it carried 340,000 passengers to ski destinations last season. The number is expected to increase to nearly half a million this ski season, as more frustrated tour operator holidaymakers choose to book their ski holiday independently. This one stop ski shop is designed to simplify the process and help passengers get the holiday they really want by giving easier access to the great deals available on the web, while ensuring the maximum time on the slopes for the best price. easyJet's Commercial Director Saad Hammad commented: "This new online partnership between easyJet and Iglu is exciting news for the independent skier. For years easyJet has been developing the flexible DIY ski holiday market, providing a greater choice of flights at our fantastically low fares. "However, many of the hotels have stuck to the traditional and restrictive Saturday to Saturday/seven night stay. But now the accommodation providers recognise the potential of flexible stay and mid-week travel and the new and improved easyJet4ski website will facilitate this change and help lead this trend." Igluski.com Chief Executive Richard Downs said: "This is a major breakthrough for the independent skier. It will save them time and money and, we believe, lead to a massive increase in the number of people packaging their own ski holiday. "We're especially pleased that a quarter of the accommodation is available for short breaks, ski weekends and flexible durations for as little as two nights. Link that to easyJet's network of ski flights and the choice for winter sports enthusiasts is enormous." - ENDS -
