Idaho Tourism

On December 5th Travel + Leisure magazine released it's annual 'The World's Best Awards.' The most beautiful islands, cities, hotels, cruise lines, airports and more are chosen by the readers and compiled. The Idaho Tourist Office is proud that the capital city of Boise has been named one of the 50 best cities to visit in 2018.

Every year, the editors of Travel + Leisure tip the most beautiful holiday destinations for the new travel year. The travel magazine hails the capital of Idaho, Boise, as an innovative city that the traveller simply cannot miss. Visitors can spend the night in renovated and new hotels, enjoy culinary delights in up-and-coming restaurants and discover the flourishing wine industry.

Idaho's capital, formerly known primarily as a destination for conventions, now also attracts the attention of the leisure traveller. Boise's living downtown is proof of this, where the boutique hotel 'Inn at 500' opened last year. In the hotel, Richard's Restaurant, by chef Richard Langston, was nominated for the James Beard Award for Best Chef.

Beer and Wine Industry

Travel + Leisure also indicates that Idaho is becoming more and more interesting for both beer and wine lovers. This year White Dog Brewing opened its doors with a rustic tap room. Idaho is number 10 when it comes to the number of beer breweries per capita in the United States. In addition, it is the second largest barley producer and the third largest hop producer in the USA. The versatility in agriculture gives beer brewers the opportunity to brew a wide variety of beers. The beer lover will find more than 50 breweries here.

For the past 15 years, the Idaho wine industry has grown explosively, with Boise developing into a major hub with many vineyards in the vicinity. In 2002, Idaho only had 11 vineyards, but today there are over 50 vineyards in the state.

Flight Connections

American Airlines recently announced a new non-stop service from O'Hare International Airport, Chicago. Southwest Airlines offers a non-stop flight from San Diego, making it easy for travellers to visit Idaho.
