Blue Lagoon Cruises passengers can now enjoy some of the finest cuisine Fiji has to offer with the recent appointment of a new award-winning Corporate Executive Chef, Paul Wong, to develop and oversee the menu preparation and service on board all cruises.
As a two-time winner of the prestigious Chef of the Year Award, Paul Wong brings to his new role at Blue Lagoon a long and distinguished career in Fijian food preparation.
In a career spanning more than twenty years, Paul has applied his culinary skills in many of the top-level international hotels and resorts in Fiji, including the Shangri-La Fijian Resort and the Fiji Macambo Hotel.
More recently, Paul has become well-known throughout Fiji for his appearances in a Cooking Show on national TV.
So many of our passengers comment that great food is one of the reasons they prefer Blue Lagoon Cruises for their Fijian holiday experience. With Paul Wong now part of our team, there is even more reason to cruise with Blue Lagoon, said Julie Phillipp, Director Commercial Operations.
With his extensive experience and knowledge of South Pacific cuisine, Paul ensures that passengers enjoy not only a high standard of food whilst on board but also one of the most authentic culinary experiences.
A typical feast on board includes fresh seafood, abundant platters of mouth watering tropical fruits and tempting freshly baked delights.
One of the special features on a Blue Lagoon Cruises menu is an evening meal enjoyed ashore on Nanuya Lai Lai Island. This is where the Lovo, or traditional Fijian feast, is wrapped in leaves and cooked in an underground pit. Once ready, each steaming dish is uncovered and unwrapped to the delight of onlookers.
Mealtimes have long been recognised as an important element of a Blue Lagoon Cruise, enabling passengers to relax, indulge and take time to make new friends. The Crew are often heard to boast the more you eat, the better you float!
