Blue Lagoon Cruises Gains Lloyds ISM Certification For Entire Fleet

Blue Lagoon Cruises

From the 5th to 8th of March Blue Lagoon Cruises fleet of luxury vessels was put through a rigorous audit by Lloyds Register of Shipping including office, crew, safety & vessel procedures.

The result was that on 8th March Blue Lagoon Cruises was awarded the ISM certification from Lloyds making it the only cruise operation in Fiji to be awarded such a distinction.

The ISM standard is an internationally recognized standard of excellence similar in other industries to ISO9002 & is a great achievement for the company.

This is a compulsory international standard for any passenger vessel over 500 gross tonnes.

Chris Semmens, Director of Marine Operations for Blue Lagoon comments:

From the outset the whole company gave this project total commitment, from senior management down to our Galley Hands. The certification process was not a simple undertaking especially since we were the first cruising company in the Fiji Islands to attempt this and there was no local expertise to call on for advice.

Gaining the ISM accreditation has been a two year project and has demonstrated to our customers around the world Blue Lagoon Cruises commitment to safety and internationally recognized standards

Tristan Saunders, Director of Commercial Operation comments: This is a tremendous achievement giving a real competitive advantage to the business particularly for geographically distant markets such as Europe, UK & North America where they can immediately have complete consumer confidence that our vessels and procedures are at world class standard
