2. CORNWALL

 

The Rigging, an exceptional, traditional, white wash Cornish cottage for six set in the enchanting harbour village of Polperro, can be booked from £437 for three nights, rising to £1,709 in August

The Rigging has a large living room with a stylish corner sofa, provincial French-style painted furniture and woodland views.  Its large kitchen has been beautifully finished with hand-painted cabinetry, granite-finished worktops and the very latest in kitchen appliances.  It also has an attractive, large kitchen table for six where family meals and celebratory feasts can be enjoyed.

3. SOMERSET


Located in the serene Somerset hamlet of Mill Cross, Flycatchers Lodge, a stunning luxury eco-lodge, set at the foot of the stunning Quantock Hills, can be booked for eight guests from just £409, rising to £1,589 for a week in August.

 

Situated in a nature enthusiast’s paradise with badgers, foxes, bats, and a diverse range of birds, this beautifully finished house overlooks a lake where dragonflies, mayflies, otters and a wide variety of wildfowl can be spotted.  Guests can fish for trout and carp, or simply spend time quietly enjoying the surrounding environment.

4. DORSET

 

Chisel Barn Foxditch, an attractive converted barn for four set in the rolling vales of Dorset near Blandford Forum, can be booked in 2014 from £262 for three nights, rising to £1,009 for a week in August.
 

Formerly used as a dairy and pony club camp, guest can stable their horse, if they have one, free of charge, and pets can come too.  There’s even access to a cross country course!

5. ISLE OF WIGHT


Stay in Palmerston House, part of a stylish hidden Hill Fort on the Isle of Wight, from just £325 for six guests over three nights.  Built in 1863 Golden Hill Fort's imposing fortified structure rises sixty meters above the North West coast of the Isle of Wight.  Hidden by a grassy moat that disguises the structure as hill, this secret fort is a great place to take children.
