South African Tourism

PRESS INVITATION: join us for a special wine masterclass and exclusive cookery demonstration on Thursday 20 June from 6pm. RSVP to southafrica@kallaway.com in advance and take home an exclusive goodie-bag.

From the cosmopolitan and international restaurant scene in Johannesburg to the delicious Indian-inspired recipes of KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town's unparalleled fresh fish dishes - not to mention the country's famous winelands - South Africa's cuisine offers one of the best ways of discovering this remarkable country.

As South Africa gears up to celebrate 20 years of democracy in 2014, visit Stand F1 (opposite British Airways) at Taste of London this summer for the chance to sample some of the best fare the country has to offer to visitors today, from traditional food such as tangy and nutritious boerewors and biltong, to more surprising dishes. A variety of South African wines will be available for tasting in 45-minute sessions throughout the day with the selection including the distinctive earthy Pinotage wines from some of the most famed wine regions of South Africa such as Stellenbosch, Paarl and Constantia. And just by visiting the stand and leaving their details, Taste-goers can even be in with a chance of travelling to the country to sample its fare on home turf.

Food - Specialist UK-based provider St Marcus (www.biltongstmarcus.co.uk) will be offering some of the best in South African food for tasting, including boerewors (South African beef sausage) biltong (dried, cured meat) and all the ingredients you need for a great braai (South Africa's answer to a barbeque, which is usually a day-long event) including fresh meat and fish. At the same time, visitors can enjoy live demonstrations and cooking master classes showcasing traditional dishes as well as new introductions.

Wine - Join us for a series of 45-minute tasting sessions offered daily between midday and 4.30pm with Jean-Louise Holtzhausen, Director of the Cape Wine Academy in London. A variety of red and white wines will be available with the selection including distinctive Pinotage wines from some of the most famed wine regions of South Africa including Stellenbosch, Paarl and Constantia.

About the stand - Join us on Saturday 23 June for an evening of food, wine and music including live South African drumming. Divided loosely into two zones, the design fuses a number of South African styles, uniting the relaxed, natural vibe found in Cape Town with Johannesburg's edgy, cosmopolitan atmosphere. A central bar area provides a focal point, while cooking stations at the front will be used for tastings throughout the show. Artwork for the stand has been provided by South African artist Glen Josselsohn.

WIN: visit the stand to be in with a chance to win two return flights to South Africa - courtesy of KLM - and tickets to the 'Arts Alive Festival', the vibrant arts, dance, music and poetry festival held every September in Johannesburg. The trip includes a three-night stay in a prestigious Mantis hotel (www.mantiscollection.com).
