Slimbridge Wetland Centre in Gloucestershire is HQ of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and the birthplace of modern conservation. The national conservation charity was founded by Sir Peter Scott, son of Scott of the Antarctic. Sir Peter was a pioneer at the time, as he realised that for conservation to work, you need to let people get up-close to nature, a philosophy still close to the heart of WWT.
Today WWT's wetland conservation work is complemented by nine UK wetland centres where people can have close encounters with awe-inspiring nature - wildlife clusters near water so there is always something to see. As well as hundreds of species of birds, you can also see other wetland creatures like butterflies,
dragonflies, otters and water voles in their natural environment.
WWT plans to roll-out Wildlife Weekly to other WWT Wetland Centres in the future.
Please get in touch if you need any more information or any additional format of footage.
