Big Cat Pounces on Animal Planet

Kenya Tourist Board

"Big Cat Diary TV show will be screened in the USA on Animal Planet on 17th April 2004.

The first series of Big Cat Diary was filmed in 1996 and there have been updates on the Mara cats every two years since. New cats have been introduced, but some old favorites have also reappeared on the scene in successive series. Big Cat Week was the fifth time the BBC Natural History Unit has followed the lives of Kenya's big cat characters.

In 2002, Big Cat Diary set up camp in the Maasai Mara in Kenya and found the place overrun with cubs. Presenters Simon King and Jonathan Scott were joined for the first time by Saba Douglas-Hamilton as they followed a new cheetah with three very cute cubs, searched for the stars of the previous series and followed the Marsh Pride lionesses, who were being kept very busy rearing loads of new arrivals.

The latest series showed on BBC1 (the UKs leading TV station) from 6th Jan - 9th Jan inclusive and went out on air every evening at 7pm for 30mins. Each show attracted an average of 7 million viewers.
