Travel storytelling has never been more important, as the debate around 'build back better' extends to our social and cultural relationship with the places we visit.
The British Guild of Travel Writers' next event will be a debate in partnership with Explore Charleston about the International African American Museum opening in the city in 2022. Four experts from the Charleston area will discuss the museum's likely impact and legacy, what it means for heritage tourism and the importance of travel narratives - particularly relevant in a city where at least 40% of enslaved Africans arrived during the transatlantic slave trade - in a discussion chaired by BGTW events director Meera Dattani. It's a free event on Tuesday 4th May at 4pm-5.15pm UK time. Just register to attend and feel free to send questions in advance.
BGTW Talks Travel discussions are part of a series of online events to bring people together and help our members and other travel professionals move forward. By connecting leaders in the world and featuring the latest travel opinion and developments, we help keep you at the forefront, creating and innovating.
