Following in the footsteps of the cast of Game of Thrones, leading Iceland specialist, Discover the World, takes you Beyond the Wall with their thrilling new self-drive adventure in Iceland. The five-day itinerary explores the spectacular landscapes used as filming locations along the south coast including impressive glaciers, rugged mountains, volcanic plains, iceberg lagoons and striking waterfalls. The third season of the epic fantasy television drama Game of Thrones concludes on Sky Atlantic tonight and is based on the fantasy novels written by George RR Martin.
ICELAND: Beyond the Wall
Taking you Beyond the Wall, this new self-drive adventure from Iceland specialists Discover the World, follows in the footsteps of the cast of Game of Thrones and takes you to the foot of Iceland's own wall of ice, Vatnajokull - and beyond. Stay in the same Reykjavik hotel used by the cast and crew before heading out along the south coast to the striking Hofdabrekkuheidi area. This eerie green-and-black volcanic plain, overshadowed by the looming Myrdalsjokull glacier, is one of the filming locations for the last two series of Game of Thrones. Venture further east to Iceland's own wall of ice and another major filming location - Vatnajokull glacier in the national park of Skaftafell.
Join your local guide for an otherworldly trek across the ancient ice fields where the words "winter is coming" will seem most apt! Explore the beautiful national park with its many walking routes or head further east to the famous glacial lagoon, Jokulsarlon. Visit some of the other incredible sights of the south including the mystical waterfalls of Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, the natural wonders of the Golden Circle and the many black sand beaches of the south shore. Take to the air on an Ice and Fire Sightseeing Flight, snowmobile on the frozen wastes of Langjokull glacier or ride like the Dothraki on a pure-bred Icelandic horse just some of the excursions you can opt to include in your itinerary. Complete your journey with a visit to the famous natural geothermal pools of the Blue Lagoon.
