Cape Girardeau Story Telling Festival 3rd-5th April 2009
Everyone loves a good story, so where better to be swept away into your imagination than at an enchanting event that allows you to kick back from modern life, and to revert back to your childhood and be told a story.
Story-telling is big in the USA. With the National Story-telling Festival now in its 36th year Cape Girardeau decided last year to start its own festival.
The festival has secured four of the nations top story tellers. Now if youre thinking that this all sounds a bit dull think again! Most people enjoy being entertained by a stand up comedian but with a story teller youll experience many more emotions than just laughter and rather than jokes or sound bites you get to the full package: a story with a beginning, middle and an end!

10th Rock 'n' Ribs festival: 17th & 18th April 09 Music and BBQ are serious business in the Midwest and the Rock n Ribs festival in Springfield celebrates both in style! Over 60 travelling BBQ teams will come to this event in April 09 to win top prize of $1500 and a place at the American Royal BBQ cook-off.
Teams lay out their smokers and BBQs to compete in a number of different categories from best Ribs, best alternative dish, best sauce and the best Margarita!
This event wouldnt be worthy of its title without a selection of local rock bands who play on different stages around the grounds throughout the day. Of course visitors get the chance to sample the BBQ they can even enter the local pie eating contest if they have room! Branson Rock n Ride Remember Rally: 14 - 17 May 09 This is an event for the boys! Oh ok and the girls. Think American Chopper meets the Waltons. As Branson is nestled in the Ozark Mountains, bikers can feel wholesome and pure with the wind in their hair as they ride the mountain roads, until they get back to Branson where the fun begins.
Being set in Branson, this Fest has music and lots of it! There are also a number of events including the Military Bike Build off (This is the American Chopper bit) where five distinct builders put together five totally different, original bikes, that promises to be over the top. Attendees get to vote for the winner and each bike will be up for sale with all proceeds will go to a Military charity.
