InterContinental Sydney

On Friday 19 November 1999 Hotel Inter.Continental Sydney won two of the industries most prestigious 'Best of the Decade' awards in the New South Wales Awards for Excellence in Tourism. The hotel winning in the category Luxury Accommodation and the Hotel School in Industry Training.

The award acknowledges sustained excellence in tourism over the past ten years, 1989 to 1998. Hotel Inter.Continental Sydney has won a number of Tourism Awards during the last decade, including:

1989 NSW Tourism Award for Excellence - Training & Education NSW Tourism Award for Excellence - Heritage & Cultural Tourism

1990 Australian Tourism Award for Excellence - Deluxe Accommodation Australian Tourism Award for Excellence - Training & Education

1991 NSW Tourism Award for Excellence - Deluxe Accommodation NSW Tourism Award for Excellence - Training & Education

1996 NSW Tourism Award for Excellence - Deluxe Accommodation

Richard Hawkes, General Manager, accepted the award and congratulated the individuals who made the award possible. Special thanks were given to the 44 long serving staff members who have been employed from 1989 to 1998 and some since the hotels opening in 1985.

Throughout the decade the hotel has been renowned as one of Sydney's best. This reputation is largely a result of its staff, its link to Sydney's history, its guests who have called it home, its commitment to the environment and high standards of service.

This award signifies the hotels commitment to Excellence in Tourism in this decade and its commitment to the future.
