Superb spring skiing and boarding can still be found in Perisher Blue, today 31 lifts were in operation. Thats more than any other resort has at full capacity!
Fresh tracks were the order first up this morning on top of the 1.3m cover still there.
School holiday skiing and boarding is as good as it gets this year, said Gary Grant General Manager of Marketing & Resort Services. I went for a few runs today and skied on perfect silky smooth, buttery snow.
Late September generally brings a mixed bag as far as weather goes. One minute its freezing cold and snowing the next minute its sunny and mild.
Taking that into consideration, you have to be down in the Snowy Mountains visiting to take advantage of the snow producing weather when it hits. As soon as it does you need to drop everything and get out there.
Perisher Blue will be open until October 13th and with the amount of snow around it would be possible to ski well into November.
If youre thinking it is too warm where you are for it to still be snowing in the mountains, well guess again.
Spring can often be the best time to hit the slopes, plenty of snow on the ground with the occasional top up and beautiful sunny days.
The kids love these conditions, the snow is soft and forgiving so it makes learning and having fun easy, said Neil Thew Perishers PR Manager. The adults love it as well, top to bottom skiing and boarding in ideal late season powder, youve got to be happy with that, its better than sitting on the beach, said Mr. Thew.
Its a long off-season, so catch the snow before it ends. Check conditions and accommodation options on Perisher Blues web-site: www.perisherblue.com.au.
