Beauty and the Beach: Orange County Welcomes Three Upscale Seaside Resorts

Orange County celebrates the launch of three new luxury properties that open in early 2003. Vacationers with a taste for the finer things in life can choose from the new Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa in Huntington Beach; The Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach, and the renovated Balboa Bay Club & Resort in Newport Beach.

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa opens its doors this month. The 517-room oceanfront resort is built in the style of an Andalusian villa with dramatic ocean views.

The resort features three restaurants, two lounges, a retail shopping plaza and more than 110,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space. The luxe, 20,000-square-foot Pacific Waters Spa provides treatments indigenous to Pacific Island cultures.

Guests of the new property can test-drive the spa with the Surf City Experience package, valid through May 21.

The package includes a $25 spa gift certificate to use for services of $100 or more. Also included are a Smores welcome amenity and full American breakfast for two. Gold Passport members receive a next-available room category upgrade plus 2,500 Bonus GP Points. It costs $199 per night, double. The Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach will open in February, offering luxurious accommodations, pampering spa treatments and breathtaking views of the Pacific throughout the property. The 262-room property reflects the character of the artists� colony, with its Craftsman-inspired architecture set amid the pristine white sands of Laguna Beach. Guests can enjoy fresh sea breezes along with an invigorating workout or soothing spa treatment at the 20,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor oceanfront spa. The resort also offers three swimming pools and an array of beach-oriented activities, with snorkeling, kayaking and surfing and beach volleyball. Nightly rates range from $450 to $3,575 per night, from Feb. 2003 through May 21, depending on room type. From May 22 through Oct. 31, rates range from $540 to $4,285 per night. The Balboa Bay Club & Resort will begin a new chapter in its 53-year history with the launch of new guest rooms and suites in May 2003.
