1. Fun in the sun: Relax ...... a real holiday hotspot with beaches of fine golden sand, small hidden coves and turquoise clear waters. Enjoy all the water sports and life under the sea & marvel through your snorkel at the colour and variety of fish. Top tip: use sun-screen, temperatures reach mid 30's in the height of the summer.
2. Explore the history: Explore ...... the ancient city of Genoa that oozes with history, traditions & architectural marvels & home to paintings by some of the greats including Rubens & Van Dyck. Top Tip: a must visit is the Aquarium, one of the most technologically advanced marine life centres in Europe and is home to some of the most fantastic & unusual species of seal, dolphin & shark.
3. Pretty as a picture: Click ..... Listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, the Cinque Terre is a protected stretch of five small towns that cling to the cliff-face & a real treat to the senses. Other villages that must be seen to be believed include Portofino with its pastel-coloured houses & exclusive yacht harbour, fashionable Rapallo and the City of Flowers San Remo, famous for its Italian Music Festival & Casino. Top tip: hop on the train that runs between each of the towns on the Cinque Terre & don't forget your camera!
4. Underwater love: Marvel ...... The rocky coasts of Liguria offer marine life reserves home to sperm whales, dolphins and rorquals and is known as the 'Sanctuary of Cetaceans'. Top tip: book a whale-watching experience and see these magnificent creatures in their own habitat.
5. Eat, drink & be merry: Taste...... the produce from the local vineyards and olive groves. Famous for its extra virgin olive oil, Liguria also produces some fantastic wines too. Top tip: enjoy a nice Abarola with stuffed sardines.
