With 30,000 British and Irish rugby fans estimated to be following the 2013 Lions Tour in Australia, there's likely to be a late scrum for accommodation. Luckily it's not too late to watch the showdown between the Wallabies and the British & Irish Lions in Sydney on the 6th July in the Third Test at the ANZ Stadium.
With the dollar down by about 40% and traveller numbers up by a third since the last tour in 2001, fans need to charge-down the best accommodation deals. Backpacking is a great option in Australia's vibrant cities, as meeting like minded fans will kick-off the party atmosphere in fine style.
The FunkHouse (www.funkhouse.com.au )is just about the coolest backpacking hostel Sydney has to offer. Urban in style with a youthful atmosphere, the decor is jazzed up by colourful murals. Clean, lively and with a homely feel, The FunkHouse offers perks including: free breakfast, free beer vouchers, discounts on parking and food and superb Friday night rooftop barbecues.
Located in the vibrant King's Cross area, The FunkHouse is an easy walk to Sydney's most famous attractions including: the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Botanical Gardens, The Rocks, Sydney Tower, Darling Harbour, Sydney Aquarium & Taronga Zoo. Just 200m from the train/metro and bus station, rugby fans wanting to kick back and work on their tans in the build up to the big game can also head to Bondi Beach and Manly Beach.
Family rooms are available throughout July from $82 per night. To book or for more information, visit www.funkhouse.com.au or call 00 61 2 9358 6455.
