Beat The Summer Heat - Pack Up And Pack In!

Visit Tuolumne County

Beat the heat and come up to the high country and discover the Sierras the way our ancestors did, from the saddle.  The trail-wise horses do the walking so you can enjoy the beauty of the rippling creeks, river rapids, quiet meadows, cascading waterfalls and vibrant wildlife.

The stock available at Tuolumne County pack stations can accommodate anyone from the smallest child to the most experienced adult rider.  Pack trips for the sportsman or the entire family are provided with competent guides, packers and cooks.   You can choose to ride for an hour or customize a trip for days.  Rides go into the Emigrant Wilderness, lesser traveled parts of Yosemite National Park, and the Stanislaus National Forest.

There are several riding stables and pack stations to choose from. You can opt for the ambiance of Kennedy Meadows Resort with its general store, restaurant, "Last Chance" saloon and cabins....and a river runs through it!   Or Aspen Meadow Pack Station near Pinecrest Lake where you can choose from several trailheads that take you into the pristine Emigrant Wilderness.

For those who want a trail ride or just love to ride, there are one-hour, two-hour, ½ day and all day rides offered.   Pine Mountain Lake Riding Stables just outside Groveland also offers summertime horseback riding by the hour..........great family fun.
