Background:
Having done back-to-back ski seasons with a British Tour Operator, upon returning to the Alps on holiday, skiing fanatic Alexis Murray-Jones became frustrated with his evident lack of local knowledge, tendency to pay 'tourist' prices everywhere and overall time-wasting in new resorts he visited. He founded Tripster together with app developer Didier Gayraud to overcome these problems. 

Tripster was launched in November 2012 as a voucher-based iPhone app at the London Ski Show at Earl's Court. In its first season (2012/13), it was used 24,000 times by 4,500 British holidaymakers (from 5,000 downloads). Lower roaming rates this year and offline mode have made it easy to use abroad. The company's future plans include expanding to summer desinations.
