Bailey, a Crystalbrook Collection Hotel welcomes Australian painter, sculptor and public artist, Roland Nancarrow to the arts-inspired property in March 2020.
Bailey is passionate about making art accessible, inclusive and empowering. An advocate for the arts, Bailey plays host to an ever-changing and evolving array of art.
Roland Nancarrow will be the first feature artist to exhibit his artwork at Bailey. Nancarrow's installation titled 'From a Garden Somewhere Continued' will be on display from Thursday 5 March in Bailey's lobby.
The installation will feature 10 groups of freestanding sculptures along with eight table sculptures. The collection covers sculptures created over the past 20 years.
Bailey will host its first feature artist opening exhibition for Roland Nancarrow on Friday 13 March. The event will take place in the lobby from 6:00-7:30pm. Open to all, from hotel guests, locals and the Cairns arts and cultural community.
Nancarrow said, “This exhibition continues my journey exploring forms found in my own garden, equatorial forests or botanical collections. Foliage shapes, light, colour and shadows have always been starting points for my 3D work and with these works, I have enjoyed combining older and newer work to create new relationships.”
Bailey's General Manager, Carl Taranto, said, “Roland has been a key art supporter for Bailey from the beginning. His artwork is currently on display at level two of the hotel and we're delighted to have Roland as our first feature artist exhibition.”
