Backyard Travel

Bangkok, Thailand (May 26, 2014) – Backyard Travel, the online boutique travel agency specializing in unique and insider tours to Asia, has just revealed details of a new Laos tour giving travelers the chance to experience the dramatic scenery that surrounds the majestic Mekong River, and explore some fascinating pre-Angkorian temples.

On the fully guided four-day, three-night tour travelers will have the chance to visit the Bolaven Plateau, taking a stop at the Tad Lo area to see the three wonderful waterfalls of Tad Hang, Tad Suong and Tad Lo.

The wonderful Laos tour then takes travelers to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Wat Phou – a spectacular temple built by rulers of the Khmer empire, which pre-dates Angkor Wat. The fully customized trip also gives the opportunity to take an elephant ride throughout the Xe Pian Protected Area to enjoy the great views from picturesque Mt. Asa.

Travelers can then spend their time biking around the quiet islands of Don Det and Don Khone, both car-free islands with electricity only during the evenings. The guided excursions around the islands take in some of the local coconut, kapok and bamboo farms and gives the chance to observe local fishermen plying their trade.

“This atmospheric tour of beautiful Southern Laos allows travelers the unique opportunity to get up close to the reality of life on the Mekong,” said Backyard Travel's General Manager Maeve Nolan. “We hope this new tour will give a sample of the wonders and authenticity of this majestic region.”
