Backyard Travel

Bangkok, Thailand (June 4, 2014) – Backyard Travel, the online boutique travel agency specializing in unique and insider tours to Asia, has just revealed details of a new adventurous tour giving travelers the chance to discover the stunning natural environment of the Guangxi region of Southern China.

Travelers begin their tailored seven-day, six-night trip learning about the fascinating ancient hill tribes of the Red Yao; where the women grow their hair to an extraordinary length, and the Zhuang; famed for their love of song and theater. After a stay in the beautiful hillside village of Ping'an, travellers are then guided on a walking tour through the sublime rice terraces of the “Dragons Backbone”.

The tour then moves on to Yangshuo, a town surrounded by spectacular 'sugar loaf' karst mountains, and the base for the remainder of the trip. While in Yangshuo, travellers are treated to a wonderful theatrical performance in the world's largest outdoor natural theater, with the incredible surrounding scenery providing the backdrop for the spectacle.

On days three and four of this insider's tour, travelers are able to explore the natural beauty of the region via different guided walks and bicycle rides. The full day walk includes a visit to the village of Xingping, which dates back over 1,000 years and appears on the Chinese 20 Yuan note, and the cycling tour gives travellers the opportunity to venture further into the spectacular countryside, including a ride up to the impressive Moon Hill.

After a mouth-watering cooking class, where travellers learn how to prepare tasty local dishes such as egg wrapped dumplings and steam stuffed vegetables, the tour finishes with an active final day. Travellers spend the morning testing their rock climbing ability with a guided ascent up one of the remarkable karst mountains, suitable for not only expert but also novice climbers. They then spend their final afternoon kayaking down the Yulong and Li Rivers, past more stunning Guangxi scenery.

“This region of China is a veritable wonderland for lovers of nature and active pursuits,” said Backyard Travel's General Manager Maeve Nolan. “We hope this tour will allow travelers to fully appreciate the majestic wonder of the Guangxi region through the variety of rewarding activities that we offer on every day”.
