UK based company Real Russia was proud to sponsor the recent book launch of Christian Wolmar, award winning specialist rail writer and broadcaster. Christian chose the very appropriate Russian location of Pushkin House, in Bloomsbury Square London, to unveil his latest book in front of many travel and rail enthusiasts and writers. The book, entitled "To the Edge of the World -The story of the Trans-Siberian Railway" is a detailed history of the Trans-Siberian Railway and a must for all train and rail enthusiasts.
As one of the UK's most recognised travel writers and broadcasters, Christian has spent most of his career as a journalist, still regularly contributing to newspapers such as The Times and Guardian. Transport has always been of interest to him and being appointed as transport correspondent for The Independent in 1992 increased his curiosity even further. Today, he has an established series of books exploring the history of the world's railways and his latest offering is an ideal read for anyone taking a trip on the iconic Trans-Siberian route.
After successfully arranging Christian's rail journey across Russia in November 2012, Real Russia was delighted to support the book launch. Real Russia who recently won the World Travel Award for Russia's Leading Travel Agency specialise in helping tens of thousands of people travel to, through and beyond Russia every year. Their Trans-Siberian tours allow passengers to enjoy this unique rail adventure whilst experiencing the spectacular scenery as Russia stretches from one continent to another - from Europe to Asia and the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean.
As Real Russia's Managing Director Chris Watkins said, "the Trans-Siberian is one of the most iconic and timeless journeys. It is always high on the list when people are thinking of an epic rail adventure and remains one of the most well known journeys of all time.
We were delighted to help Christian with his book launch and honoured to read that he has recognised us in his book. I believe "To the edge of the world" would make the perfect Christmas present for anyone interested in rail journeys or considering a Trans-Siberian tour and I wish Christian all the success with this book."
