Boutique marquees are in hot demand at this year's Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup, with punters clearly keen to be part of Victoria's racing event of the year on Saturday, October 19.
More and more race goers are treating the country races as a major social event, said Avoca Shire Turf Club Manager Kate Kirkpatrick.
"Now that we've been hailed as event of the year by Country Racing Victoria, the profile of the Avoca Cup has been lifted even more," she said. "All indicators are pointing towards a record crowd of fashion conscious punters who are not only looking for quality thoroughbred racing, but quality food, wine and entertainment."
Fashionistas will be excited to know that Melbourne based fashion stylist Meagan Harding will be special guest in the Fashions Enclosure this year.
"We'll be encouraging entries for lady of the day, couple of the day, most creative outfit and headpiece of the day," Ms Kirkpatrick said. "All this will be happening to tunes provided by Soultown DJs. It's going to be a very cool event."
New sponsor Stride Events will host an all-inclusive marquee, complete with deck and cafe style surroundings for just $120 a ticket. Infield entertainment will include 'Untapped Duo' from Ballarat.
"For families, Kelly Sports will run heaps of kids' activities so mum and dad can chill out on a picnic rug and enjoy the atmosphere," Ms Kirkpatrick added. "Better yet, children under 17 are still free and until October 15 adult admission can be purchased online for just $20."
Ms Kirkpatrick said the Landmark Cup Eve Calcutta would be held from 6.30pm at the Turf Club. Cost is $35 per person and includes a finger food dinner and race book. A local bus service will run on the night.
Gates open at 10am on race day and the public can camp overnight on site.
