Forest Fishing, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Foraging Escape Tudor Farmhouse's Modern Mcnab Challenge
Celebrating the natural autumn bounty of the Forest of Dean, the folks at Tudor Farmhouse have created their own take on the traditional Macnab.
Tudor Farmhouse's Forest Macnab: A new package including shooting, fishing and forgaing will be available to guests staying between mid September and November 1st. All the activities will take place in and around the idyllic Forest of Dean, during its most colourful time of year.
Numerous Macnab Challenges exist today, all a variation on the Real Macnab: A salmon on the fly or a stag, as the trio did in John Buchan's novel John Macnab, “poached” in a legal sporting manner. The Classic Macnab - a stag, a salmon and a brace of grouse, epitomising the Highlands. While the Southern Macnab comprises a couple of snipe, a sea-trout and a roe buck. There are at least a half dozen more and the one thing they all have in common is the 'prize' must be got in 24 hours.

After a delicious breakfast, that will set guests up for the day, qualified and experienced coaches will guide guests on a clay pigeon shoot, providing an enjoyable and valuable experience whether shooting for the first time or improving skills.
After a busy morning, spending time on the beautiful banks of the Wye makes for a peaceful and relaxing few hours for the experienced or novice angler. A guide will tutor where necessary and show the more experienced the best spots and help with technique. The sport will be dictated by the time of year and the anglers' preference. A packed lunch or delicious local produce will be provided.
