Take your international reporting to the next level: apply for this October exchange to Korea

Are you an experienced journalist looking to broaden your international knowledge? Interested in Korea but not sure how to get your head around it? Apply for the Australia-Korea Journalist Exchange and you could be visiting key political, cultural and business organisations in Korea this October.
 

About the program
With the assistance of the Australia Korea Foundation and the Korea Press Foundation, the Walkley Foundation offers an opportunity for three Australian journalists to travel to Korea for a week-long visit this October 20-27. The Korean Press Foundation will curate a series of meetings and interviews to help the visiting journalists develop a clear picture of some of the big stories coming out of Korea, and build awareness and relationships between our countries.

This is a brilliant opportunity for driven journalists to enjoy unique access to some of Korea's key organisations and personalities, and build a wealth of contacts and story ideas. Successful applicants will have their airfares, transfers, accommodation and per diems covered, and will be uniquely placed to learn about Korean culture and bring Korean stories to Australia.

The exchange will visit areas including Seoul and Busan from October 20 to 27. Proposed visits include:

  - The National Assembly
  - Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  - Research institutes on North Korea, unification issues and economic issues
  - Major companies like Samsung, LG and Hyundai

Who we're looking for

Journalists with experience in any medium, hungry to learn about Korea. Journalists with clear ideas about how they'd use new knowledge of Korea - story ideas, thoughts about documenting your trip on social media, and openness to sharing your experience through events or talks with the Walkley Foundation.
 

How to apply

Email walkleys@walkleys.com with a brief CV and a 500 word cover letter outlining why you'd be perfect for the Australia-Korea Journalist Exchange. Please also include five to 10 ideas of how you'd share your experience, for example story ideas or social media updates.
